For ageing homeowners, it can also make everyday cooking safer, easier and more enjoyable.
In this project, our client engaged Total Cleanz to help reorganise her parents’ kitchen after years of accumulated cookware, cutlery and household items had made storage difficult to manage.
Our team carefully balanced the wishes of both generations while decluttering, reorganising and deep cleaning the kitchen—creating a space that was practical for daily use while respecting the sentimental value of many treasured belongings.

When we first met our client, her objective wasn’t simply to tidy the kitchen.
She wanted to make life easier for her parents.
Over many years, kitchen cabinets had gradually become filled with cookware, bowls, cups, plates and utensils collected over different stages of life.
Many of these items were rarely used.
Others had sentimental value because they reminded the family of special occasions or loved ones.
As her parents grew older, reaching into lower cabinets and lifting heavier kitchen items had become increasingly difficult.
The daughter wanted to create a kitchen that would better support their daily lives.
One thing we’ve learnt through many organising projects is that decluttering isn’t always about deciding what stays and what goes.
Sometimes it’s about understanding why people hold onto certain things.
While the daughter naturally wanted a simpler and more organised kitchen, her parents found it difficult to part with belongings that represented years of memories.
Neither side was wrong.
They simply saw the home through different perspectives.
Our role wasn’t to choose a side.
Our role was to help everyone feel heard.
Rather than rushing the process, our team carefully reviewed each category of kitchen items together with the family.
We encouraged conversations instead of making decisions for them.
Some items were kept because they still served a purpose.
Others were donated so they could continue being useful to another family.
Throughout the project, every decision was made together.
Professional organising isn’t about forcing people to throw things away.
It’s about helping families make confident decisions they feel comfortable with.
Once the unnecessary items had been removed, we reorganised the kitchen according to how the parents actually used the space.
Frequently used bowls, cups and everyday utensils were placed where they could be reached more comfortably.
Heavier cookware was arranged more thoughtfully to reduce unnecessary lifting and bending.
By designing the kitchen around the homeowners rather than simply around the cabinets, everyday tasks became much easier.
After the organising work was completed, our team carried out a thorough cleaning of the kitchen before carefully returning everything to its new home.
The result wasn’t simply cleaner cabinets.
It was a kitchen that felt brighter, more spacious and easier for the family to enjoy together.
Most importantly, both the daughter and her parents were happy with the outcome.
